What’s wksprt.exe (RemoteApp and Desktop Connection Runtime)? Is it safe or a virus?

The wksprt.exe process is associated with Microsoft Windows and is commonly found in the C:\Windows\System32 folder.

It's a legitimate Windows system file that is used to provide support for Windows features such as remote assistance and desktop sharing. The process runs in the background and allows users to connect to and assist others with their computer-related issues.

It's not a critical system process and can be disabled if necessary, but doing so may limit the ability to use certain remote support features within Windows. Therefore, it is generally recommended to leave wksprt.exe running unless it is causing specific issues.

What does it mean if someone is the publisher of a PC .exe (executable or process)?

The publisher of an executable is the entity responsible for its distribution and authenticity. Most processes/executables on your PC should be signed. The signature on the executable should have been verified through a third party whose job it is to make sure the entity is who it says it is. Find an unsigned executable? You should consider scanning any completely unsigned .exe on your PC.
