Our ultimate directory of Windows PC executables.InvColPC.exe is a process belonging to Dell Inventory Utility and is designed for Dell desktop and laptop computers. This .exe information page is about the x86 version of Dell's InvColPC.exe.
The app's main function is to collect an inventory of hardware and software components present on the system and store this information in a centralized database. This information can be used for system management, tracking hardware and software changes, and for generating reports. Additionally, it helps the user to quickly identify the components present in their Dell computer and ensure that they are functioning properly.
While doing research on this app, I saw many reports about a popular security platform giving this Dell-signed .exe a false positive as malicious. However, when reading the reports it appears that the users of that security platform plan to report it as a false positive to solve the issue. InvColPC.exe, signed by Dell, doesn't actually appear to be malware.
However, if you're still unsure if this Dell .exe is safe you can do a free scan with our SpyShelter Security app. Just click our download link at the top right of this page. SpyShelter not only checks every process on your PC for threats, but reveals hidden background activity from all your Windows processes.
For example, SpyShelter can show if processes are changing registry files, launching other apps, making hidden Windows System changes, and much more. Many IT professionals use SpyShelter to keep track of Windows changes, and stop spyware before it can start.
Below are 4 simple steps you can take to see if the InvColPC.exe process is safe or malware.

The publisher of an executable is the entity responsible for its distribution and authenticity. Most processes/executables on your PC should be signed. The signature on the executable should have been verified through a third party whose job it is to make sure the entity is who it says it is. Find an unsigned executable? You should consider scanning any completely unsigned .exe on your PC.
