What’s ACCStd.exe (ACCStd)? Is it safe or a virus?

I don't know about you, but I don't want any STDs going anywhere near my PC. However, if you have Acer hardware you may see this specific Acer "ACCSTD" process in your Windows Task Manager.

So... is Acer's ACCStd.exe actually an STD or virus? Nope... it just has a very unfortunate name...

ACCStd.exe is a process associated with the Acer Collection Application, which is developed by the PC hardware company Acer, as you might expect. It's responsible for running the Acer Collection application that gives Acer-specific PC recommendations, product info, and also tells Acer users about special Acer deals. Although it sounds a bit spammy, it seems to be OK.

However, if you want to kill or quarantine ACCStd.exe in the Task Manager using SpyShelter, it's probably OK to do so... and then you can avoid having something called "Std" on your PC. Yuck...

The publisher of an executable is the entity responsible for its distribution and authenticity. Most processes/executables on your PC should be signed. The signature on the executable should have been verified through a third party whose job it is to make sure the entity is who it says it is. Find an unsigned executable? You should consider scanning any completely unsigned .exe on your PC.
